A quiet morning in Clay County was shattered by tragedy on Monday, June 16, as a young man from Richmond, Missouri, lost his life in a motorcycle accident along southbound Interstate 35.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. near the 14.6-mile marker on I-35. Authorities report that the 22-year-old man, whose name has not yet been publicly released pending notification of next of kin, was traveling southbound when his motorcycle struck an unknown object in the roadway.
