7-Year-Old Jamal White Found Safe After Amber Alert in Milwaukee

Milwaukee, WI – Authorities have confirmed that 7-year-old Jamal White, the subject of a statewide Amber Alert issued late Friday night, was found safe on Saturday evening. The Milwaukee Police Department and the Wisconsin Crime Alert Network reported that Jamal was located in the area of 39th Street and Lloyd Street, bringing relief to a community gripped by concern.

Jamal was last seen around 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, near the intersection of 61st Street and Hustis Street on Milwaukee’s northwest side. According to police reports, the young boy was abducted at gunpoint while outside his home in the 6200 block of West Hustis Street. Witnesses described a suspect, identified as a Black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black face mask, forcing Jamal into a white Jeep Renegade SUV before speeding away. The vehicle’s license plate remains unknown, though ring doorbell camera footage later emerged showing the suspect vehicle.

Family members, who described Jamal as a sweet, playful, and charismatic child, expressed their anguish during the ordeal. “This is our grandson, our hearts are hurting!” a family member posted on social media, urging the community to stay vigilant and look out for the white Jeep Renegade. The boy’s aunt reported to local media that four men, all armed and wearing face masks, were involved in the abduction, which occurred as Jamal and his father were returning from a nearby park.

The Milwaukee Police Department, in collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, activated the Amber Alert system in the early hours of Saturday after confirming the case met the criteria for a critical child abduction. Community members rallied together, with neighbors reviewing security footage and joining search efforts at Carmen Park on Saturday. Some expressed frustration over the time it took for the Amber Alert to be issued, but the focus remained on bringing Jamal home safely.

By 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, the Amber Alert was canceled as Jamal was safely reunited with his family. Cheers erupted behind police tape at the scene on 39th and Lloyd Streets, where a large crowd of family, friends, and community members gathered to celebrate the news. Family members confirmed that Jamal appeared unharmed and was taken to a hospital for precautionary evaluation. Neighbors reported seeing someone taken into custody at the scene, though police have not yet confirmed any arrests or provided details on how Jamal was located.

The Milwaukee Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the abduction. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact Milwaukee Police District Four at (414) 935-7242 or call 911. The community’s swift response and collective efforts played a vital role in this positive outcome, underscoring the importance of public vigilance in such cases.
