The community of Fort Valley is grieving the heartbreaking and unexpected loss of Fire Chief Antonio Woodard, a devoted public servant whose life was defined by leadership, integrity, and selfless commitment to others.

According to Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks, Chief Woodard was found deceased in his home on Forest Drive and was pronounced dead at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. He was 48 years old. Authorities believe he had been deceased for several days before being discovered. The preliminary cause of death appears to be from natural causes.

Chief Woodard faithfully served the people of Fort Valley with passion and dedication. As Fire Chief, he led with strength and compassion, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues, fellow first responders, and the community at large. His calm presence in crisis and unwavering commitment to public safety made him a trusted figure in Fort Valley.

Beyond his badge and title, Antonio was a beloved friend, mentor, and role model. He brought warmth and humanity to every life he touched—always willing to lend a hand, offer guidance, or simply share a smile.

His sudden passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, fellow firefighters, and the community he served so faithfully. In this time of sorrow, Fort Valley honors not just the role he held, but the man he was—humble, hardworking, and deeply respected.
