Border Agents Fatally Shoot Armed Man Outside Federal Facility in McAllen, Texas – Break Out News

McALLEN, Texas — A 27-year-old man armed with an assault rifle and wearing tactical gear was shot and killed Monday after opening fire outside a U.S. Border Patrol facility in McAllen, according to federal and local authorities.

The suspect, identified as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, arrived at the entrance of the U.S. Border Patrol sector annex—located near McAllen International Airport—around Monday morning in a white two-door sedan. Officials say he opened fire on the building, prompting a swift and coordinated response from Border Patrol agents and local police.

“This morning an individual opened fire at the entrance of the United States Border Patrol sector annex in McAllen, Texas,” Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), said in a statement. “Both Border Patrol agents and local police helped neutralize the shooter.”

During the exchange, two law enforcement officers and a Border Patrol employee were injured. One officer was reportedly shot in the knee. All three victims were transported to a nearby hospital and are expected to survive.

Federal agents returned fire, striking and killing Mosqueda at the scene. McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez confirmed that Mosqueda was carrying a rifle, a utility vest, and had another weapon and ammunition in his vehicle.

Authorities have yet to determine a motive. Rodriguez noted that writing—possibly in Latin—was found on Mosqueda’s car but said it remains unclear whether it was linked to the attack. “What it means, or whether or not it is an underlying reason for him being here, I do not know,” Rodriguez said.

Mosqueda had been reported missing just over an hour before the incident, from an address in Weslaco, Texas, roughly 20 miles away. Though originally linked to an address in Michigan, no further information about the missing person report or its origin was immediately available.

The FBI is leading the investigation, and federal officials say more details will be released as they become available.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Mosqueda or the incident to contact federal investigators.
