Domestic-Related Homicide in Stone Mountain Leaves Two Dead

Gwinnett County Police have identified two individuals who lost their lives in a domestic-related homicide on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in unincorporated Stone Mountain. The victims, Maria Garza, 40, and Pilar Rosas, 43, were found deceased inside a residence in the 300 block of Stone Hill Drive.

Officers responded to the scene around 4 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from a relative who discovered the two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both Garza and Rosas were pronounced dead at the scene. According to authorities, the woman, Maria Garza, resided at the home, and the two individuals shared a long history together.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident was a murder-suicide, with police stating that the man, Pilar Rosas, shot Garza before turning the weapon on himself. One of the gunshot wounds, specifically Rosas’, appeared to be self-inflicted, based on the initial findings. Gwinnett County Police have indicated that the incident appears isolated, and they are not seeking additional suspects at this time.

While the investigation remains ongoing, the exact circumstances leading to the shooting have not been fully disclosed.
