The Fallon community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Darius Fruzza, who passed away on July 7, 2025, after a sudden and tragic medical emergency. Just one day earlier, on July 6, Darius was taken to the hospital with severe flu-like symptoms. As his condition quickly worsened, he was care-flighted to Reno in the early morning hours. Upon arrival, doctors discovered swelling in his brain, and tragically, determined that he no longer had brain activity. The cause was a rare, fatal reaction to a strain of influenza.
In the midst of unbearable sorrow, Darius’ family made the incredibly selfless decision to donate his organs, giving the gift of life to others, just as Darius gave so much to those who knew him.
Darius was known for his gentle spirit, quiet strength, and genuine kindness—traits that touched the hearts of everyone around him. He had a sharp sense of humor and a talent for making people laugh when they needed it most. Whether in the classroom, in the dugout, or with his friends, Darius brought warmth and positivity to every space he entered.
Baseball was more than just a sport to Darius—it was a passion. As a proud Fallon Hornet, wearing jersey #26, he gave his all on the field, showing talent, grit, and a love for the game that inspired teammates and coaches alike. He was the kind of player who lifted others up, led with heart, and left everything on the diamond.
Darius’ passing is an unimaginable loss not only for his family, but for the entire Fallon community. He will be remembered not just for the way he played, but for the way he lived—with compassion, humility, and heart.
Please continue to keep the Fruzza family in your thoughts and prayers during this time. Fallon has lost one of its own far too soon, but Darius’ legacy of kindness, courage, and love for the game will live on in every heart he touched.
Rest easy, Darius. You’ll always be #26.
