With heavy hearts and immeasurable sorrow, we mourn the tragic loss of Nick Laureys, a beloved son, brother, nephew, and friend, whose life was taken far too soon on the night of July 2, 2025.
At just 15 years old, Nick was a bright, spirited young man with a heart full of love and a future full of promise. He was struck and killed in a heartbreaking hit-and-run accident while walking home from fishing with his friend—doing something simple, something peaceful, something he loved. The suddenness and senselessness of his passing have left our family and community shaken to the core.
Nick lived with his aunt and younger brothers, Chris and Sam, who adored him. He was more than a big brother—he was a protector, a role model, and the heartbeat of their home. Whether fixing up his ATV, helping around the house, or caring for his cat Oreo and dog Tara, Nick filled every space with energy, laughter, and love.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: working on engines, shooting hoops, gaming, golfing with friends, and sharing quiet moments with those he trusted. He wore his cross every day and was looking forward to getting his driver’s license, filled with dreams and determination. Nick had a way of making others feel seen and valued. He was courageous, curious, and caring—a teenager who left his mark on every life he touched.
As we grieve, we remember the joy Nick brought to this world and the deep love he gave to those around him. The pain of his absence is matched only by the beauty of the memories he leaves behind. We cling to those memories now—the sound of his laughter, the warmth of his hugs, the way he lit up every room.
