On July 11, 2025, at approximately 4:19 p.m., a tragic head-on collision occurred on State Highway 28 near Glen Burnie Road in the town of Delhi, Delaware County, New York, resulting in one fatality and serious injuries to an off-duty New York State Trooper. New York State Police from the Sidney barracks responded to the scene, along with multiple emergency services, to investigate and manage the aftermath of the crash.
A preliminary investigation by the New York State Police revealed that 71-year-old Roger Hadley of Andes, New York, was driving a pickup truck southbound on State Highway 28 when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle crossed the double solid yellow line into oncoming traffic. The pickup truck collided head-on with a northbound SUV driven by Trooper Anna Aulino, who was off duty and traveling home in her personal vehicle after completing her shift. Hadley was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Delaware County Medical Examiner.
Trooper Anna Aulino, a 2023 graduate of the New York State Police Academy and a member of Troop C, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. She was promptly airlifted to Albany Medical Center for treatment, where she continues to receive medical care. The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) responded to the scene to conduct a thorough reconstruction of the crash, and the Office of the Attorney General has been notified and is reviewing the incident as part of standard procedure.
The response to the crash involved a coordinated effort from multiple agencies, including the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, Delhi Police Department, Delhi Fire Department, Bovina Fire Department, AMR (American Medical Response), Bloomville Fire Department, Walton Fire Department, Andes Fire Department, and the New York State Department of Transportation. Their assistance was critical in managing the scene and ensuring the safety of those involved.
The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing, with authorities working to determine why Hadley’s vehicle crossed into the opposing lane. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
