In Loving Memory of Barrett Misiwich, Beloved Coach and Community Leader – Break Out News

It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the sudden and heartbreaking passing of Barrett Misiwich, the cherished Head Coach of the 2016 Jr. Blues, on July 1, 2025.

Barrett was more than a coach—he was a mentor, a role model, and a guiding light to the young athletes he trained and inspired. His passion for the game of hockey was only matched by his unwavering dedication to the personal growth and well-being of his players. With a coaching style rooted in compassion, patience, and integrity, Barrett created a team environment where every player felt valued, seen, and supported.

A respected figure in the Martensville and greater Saskatoon hockey community, Barrett’s impact stretched far beyond the rink. Parents, fellow coaches, and players alike will remember him as a man who led with heart, celebrated every win—big or small—and always reminded his team that the lessons learned in hockey extended into life itself.

Barrett’s sudden passing leaves an unfillable void in the lives of all who knew him. He was a pillar of strength, a devoted friend, and a tireless advocate for youth development through sport. His absence will be felt deeply in locker rooms, in the stands, and on the ice for years to come.

The Jr. Blues, along with the entire hockey community, mourn this tremendous loss and extend their deepest condolences to Barrett’s family, friends, and loved ones. Plans for a memorial and tribute are underway and will be shared with the community in the coming days.

Barrett Misiwich will forever be remembered not only for his leadership on the ice but for the kindness, wisdom, and humility he carried through every chapter of his life. His legacy will live on in every skater he coached, every family he encouraged, and every heart he touched.

Rest in peace, Coach Barrett. You will never be forgotten.
