In Loving Memory of Captain Don Showalter – Break Out News

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of one of our own — Captain Don Showalter — who departed this life on July 5th, following a long and courageous battle that began nearly five years ago after suffering a severe stroke. His strength, resilience, and unyielding spirit throughout that time were nothing short of remarkable. Though his health may have faltered, his heart, character, and dedication never did.

Captain Showalter was more than a title — he was a mentor, a protector, and a friend to many. For decades, he served the City of Goshen with honor, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to public service. Through the ranks, Don earned the deep respect of his peers, not just for his leadership and skill, but for his calm presence and genuine compassion. He was the kind of man who led by example — with humility, with grit, and with grace.

To his family, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. A man who cherished the quiet moments at home just as much as the call of duty. He carried his love for them with him in every shift, every decision, and every sacrifice he made in the line of service.

To the Goshen community, Captain Showalter was a symbol of dedication and strength. His absence leaves a hole in the fabric of our city — one that will not soon be filled. His legacy, however, is enduring: in the lives he touched, the lives he saved, and the example he set for all who had the privilege to serve beside him.

As we honor his memory, we also offer our deepest condolences to his family, fellow officers, and all who knew and loved him. Let us carry forward his spirit in the work we do, the people we protect, and the values we uphold.

Rest well, Captain Don Showalter. Your watch has ended, but your legacy lives on.
