Lake Havasu City, Arizona — Walter Foxcroft, 43, was tragically found deceased following a flash fire inside a hyperbaric chamber at his clinic on July 9. Emergency responders arrived at the scene just before 11 p.m., quickly discovering the building filled with dense smoke and signs of an intense fire within the specialized treatment chamber.
Foxcroft, identified as the clinic’s owner, was located unresponsive inside the hyperbaric chamber. Authorities confirmed he was the only individual in the building at the time. Despite prompt efforts from fire crews, no resuscitation was possible.
Lake Havasu City officials reported that no other individuals were harmed during the incident. First responders were able to secure the building to prevent further hazards, but the event has left local residents shaken.
Hyperbaric chambers, commonly used for therapeutic oxygen treatments, carry potential fire risks when exposed to flammable substances. These devices operate by increasing oxygen levels and atmospheric pressure, creating an environment where even minor sparks can lead to sudden combustion if strict safety measures aren’t maintained.
Fire investigators, alongside Lake Havasu City police, have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the flash fire. At this stage, no official conclusion has been released regarding what may have triggered the incident.
According to authorities, the clinic has been temporarily closed as a precaution. Investigators are also working with safety experts to assess whether additional protocols need to be implemented for similar facilities in the area.
Local residents have expressed their condolences while awaiting further updates from officials. The community has also raised questions about safety regulations involving hyperbaric therapy centers across Arizona.
Lake Havasu City fire officials emphasize that public safety remains a priority, and updates regarding the investigation will be shared as more information becomes available.
