BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities in Bibb County are intensifying their search for 18-year-old Nicholas Ishmael Floyd, who is wanted in connection with a series of violent crimes that occurred on the night of July 15, 2025, leaving the community on edge.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began at approximately 9:07 p.m. when deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 1700 block of Madden Avenue. There, a 52-year-old woman was found shot inside a residence. Investigators say Floyd is the alleged shooter and, after the attack, set the home on fire. Emergency responders arrived to find the house engulfed in flames, and the victim was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.
Following the shooting and arson, Floyd reportedly took a 12-year-old boy to a separate residence in the 4000 block of Summer Hill Drive, more than three miles away. He barricaded himself inside the home with the child, prompting a tense standoff with law enforcement. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deployed its SWAT team, hostage negotiators, and patrol deputies to the scene in an effort to resolve the situation safely.
After several hours of negotiations and tactical operations, authorities successfully entered the home and rescued the 12-year-old boy, who was unharmed. However, Floyd managed to flee the residence before he could be apprehended, sparking an ongoing manhunt across Bibb County and surrounding areas.
Nicholas Ishmael Floyd is described as a Black male with light skin, an afro hairstyle, standing six feet one inch tall, and weighing approximately 150 pounds. Authorities have released photographs of Floyd and warn that he is considered armed and dangerous. The motive behind the shooting and arson remains under investigation, and authorities have not released additional details about the relationship between Floyd, the victim, and the child.
