Memphis Fire Department Mourns Loss of Two Veteran Drivers in Tragic 24 Hours – Break Out News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Fire Department and the local community are in mourning following the heartbreaking loss of two longtime firefighters within a span of just 24 hours.

Driver Gary White, a 27-year veteran of the Memphis Fire Department, tragically lost his life Sunday night in a motorcycle crash on I-240 near Getwell Road. White’s motorcycle collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, resulting in fatal injuries. Known for his dedication and leadership, White was promoted to driver in 2021 and served with honor until his untimely passing.

Just hours later, on Monday morning, the department suffered another devastating blow. Driver Jason Vosburgh, a 22-year veteran of MFD, passed away after suffering a medical emergency while off duty. Vosburgh’s passing was confirmed by the Memphis Fire Fighters Association, which is now rallying around both families and the entire department in the wake of these back-to-back tragedies.

“These men were more than firefighters,” said a representative of the union. “They were brothers, mentors, and friends to everyone who wore the uniform. Their loss is immeasurable.”

Both White and Vosburgh dedicated their lives to protecting the citizens of Memphis, and their commitment and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

The Memphis Fire Department and Fire Fighters Association are asking the public to keep the families, friends, and fellow firefighters of Gary White and Jason Vosburgh in their thoughts and prayers during this profoundly difficult time.
