The Kenner Police Department reported that a 26-year-old man was involved in a high-speed chase following aggressive driving near Airline Highway around 2:30 a.m.
According to police, officers observed the man driving a gold Honda Pilot recklessly and believed he was engaged in a confrontation with a driver in a red Ford Mustang. The situation escalated when police attempted to pull the vehicle over for questioning.
Instead of stopping, the man accelerated, fleeing the scene at a dangerous speed. During the pursuit, he crossed West Metairie Avenue and ultimately lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a canal bank. Emergency responders arrived quickly to provide medical assistance.
Paramedics and officers performed CPR at the scene in an attempt to save his life. Despite their efforts, the man was later pronounced deceased at a nearby hospital. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the red Ford Mustang was not involved in the crash and has yet to be identified.
