Pedestrian Fatally Struck on Harbor (110) Freeway in Downtown Los Angeles

A tragic incident occurred early Tuesday morning when a pedestrian was struck and killed by multiple vehicles on the Harbor (110) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to the scene at approximately 4:50 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway near the Exposition Boulevard exit, following reports of a person running across the freeway lanes.

The pedestrian, a man whose identity has not been publicly released by the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner, was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP reported that the individual was struck by at least two, and possibly three, vehicles while attempting to cross the freeway. Debris from the collision was scattered across several lanes, contributing to significant traffic disruptions.

The crash prompted the temporary closure of all northbound lanes at Exposition Boulevard, with a Sigalert issued as CHP officers investigated the incident. The right two lanes were later reopened, but the left lanes remained closed for several hours to allow for a thorough investigation. A red Dodge Ram, whose driver remained at the scene, was identified as one of the vehicles involved in the collision.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the pedestrian’s attempt to cross the freeway, and no further details about the individual or the drivers involved have been disclosed at this time. The investigation remains ongoing as the CHP works to determine the full sequence of events.
