On Thursday, July 24, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Mesquite police responded to reports of gunfire in the 2100 block of Pecan Creek Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered two teenage victims. A 15-year-old male was found with a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Nearby, 16-year-old Brandon Lil Wayne McGhee was located and pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by the Dallas County Medical Examiner.
Following an investigation, Mesquite police identified and arrested a 15-year-old male suspect on Saturday, July 26, at approximately 10:50 a.m. The juvenile suspect faces charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
