**WARRENSBURG, Ill. (WICS/WCIA) — Two people lost their lives in a devastating house explosion in Warrensburg on Sunday, July 13, 2025.** The Macon County Coroner, Michael D. Burkham, has confirmed the recovery of two bodies from the site but has not publicly identified the victims, pending notification of next of kin. The explosion occurred at approximately 4:21 p.m. in the 200 block of S. Roosevelt Street, when the Central Illinois Regional Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a loud explosion followed by a structure fire.
First responders arrived to find the home heavily damaged and engulfed in flames. The Warrensburg Fire Protection District, along with multiple fire crews, worked diligently to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring properties. Despite their efforts, the structure was a total loss, and the two individuals inside did not survive. The bodies were recovered on Sunday and transported to McLean County for autopsies to assist in the investigation.
