Wayne County, Kentucky — The community of Wayne County is reflecting with heavy hearts on the life of David Alley, who passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on December 7, 1967, David was a lifelong resident deeply connected to his family, friends, and the local area through his work, passions, and dedication to those he loved.

David was the son of the late Prentice and Estell (Bell) Alley. Throughout his life, he carried forward the values instilled in him by his family—hard work, kindness, and loyalty. He married Kelly Shepherd on June 9, 1990, and their union was blessed with two children. Their family continued to grow, leaving David surrounded by those who meant the most to him.

Surviving David are his wife, Kelly Alley; his daughter, Lacey Brown, along with her husband Terry; and his son, Prentis Alley, together with his wife Kelsey. David took great pride in his role as a grandfather to five grandchildren: Ariana and Alianne Brown, and Hensley Rae, Coy, and Case Alley. His family was the center of his life, and his presence will be greatly missed by them and countless others.

In addition to his immediate family, David is also survived by his sister, Connie White, and his brother, Michael Alley. Sadly, he was preceded in death by siblings Carrie Frost, Tommy Alley, Stephen Alley, and Twyla Godsey. His extended family and close friends have been gathering to share memories and honor his legacy.

Throughout Wayne County, David was known not only as a devoted family man but also as a respected business owner. Over the years, he successfully operated several businesses that served the local community. More recently, he found joy working alongside his son in farming, embracing a quieter but equally fulfilling chapter in his life.

David was especially talented as a mechanic, often called upon for his skills and trusted for his expertise. One of his greatest passions was participating in the Derby, where his enthusiasm and competitive spirit left a lasting impression on friends and fellow competitors alike.

As loved ones continue to grieve his loss, the impact David made across Wayne County remains undeniable. His commitment to family, work, and community will continue to inspire those who knew him.
