25‑Year‑Old Macy Stephens Shot Dead in Car Crash, Suspect Already in Custody

A devastating morning in south Las Vegas ended with the tragic loss of 25‑year‑old Macy Stephens, who was found shot inside her vehicle after a single‑car crash on Sunday, Nov. 16. The case has rapidly moved into homicide investigation territory, and investigators have now named a suspect.

Shortly after 5:20 a.m., emergency dispatchers answered a call reporting a single‑vehicle collision in the 7500 block of Dean Martin Drive, near Warm Springs Road. Responding officers arrived to find the car had struck a street sign and medical personnel already attending to the driver — a woman who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. Despite efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased has been confirmed as Macy Stephens. The Clark County Coroner’s Office ruled her cause of death as a gunshot wound to the torso. Early investigation indicated she was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.

By Tuesday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department homicide section had identified 40‑year‑old Andrew Garza as a suspect in Stephens’ death. He was already incarcerated at the Clark County Detention Center on an unrelated drug charge and has been re‑booked on a murder charge in connection with this investigation.

While police released the broad sequence of events, they held back further details of motive, relationship or what preceded the crash. “This is an ongoing investigation,” the department said, urging anyone with information to contact homicide detectives at 702‑828‑3521 or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 702‑385‑5555.

Garza is scheduled to make his initial court appearance later this Tuesday afternoon on the murder charge. Jail records show he remains in custody pending that hearing. The investigation remains open and detectives continue to piece together how Stephens came to be shot inside the vehicle before the crash.

For her friends and family, Macy’s loss comes as a sudden and heartbreaking blow. She’d been just 25 — with a full life ahead of her. In the wake of the tragedy, anyone who may have witnessed something early Sunday on Dean Martin Drive or seen relevant activity in the area is encouraged to reach out to law‑enforcement. This case remains a stark reminder that a quiet Sunday morning can turn into a life‑altering event in an instant.
