TIFFIN, Ohio — What started as a routine evening turned into a devastating tragedy in the 100 block of Huss Street, where four people — including two young children — were found dead in what authorities now call a murder‑suicide. The Tiffin Police Department says they were called just after 6:24 p.m. Wednesday following reports of screaming and gunshots.
Inside the home, officers discovered an adult man and two boys who had suffered apparent gunshot wounds, plus a woman who, though physically uninjured, was “visibly traumatized” and clearly in shock. The man and one of the children were pronounced dead at the scene, while the second child was rushed to Mercy Hospital, where sadly he later died despite the efforts of first responders.

Officers then found another adult male outside the house. According to investigators, he had apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Law enforcement now considers the case a homicide‑suicide.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has been brought in to help process the scene, and detectives are actively working to piece together what happened. But as of now, the police have not released any names or stated who fired the weapon.
One of the most troubling details shared by police: there is no known family relationship between the two men and the two boys in the home. That raises painful and confusing questions about why a man would end his own life after taking two innocent lives — especially children who, according to neighbors and early reports, may not have even been his own.
Neighbors are reeling. One woman who’s lived beside the house for years said she came home from work to find her street blocked off by emergency crews. “My heart is pounding. My heart is aching,” she said. “You never know what someone is going through. I never saw it coming.” The shock and confusion in this close‑knit town is profound.
Tiffin Police Chief David Pauly called the incident “horrific and heartbreaking,” urging the community to support not only the families who lost their loved ones, but also the first responders who are having to process such a traumatic scene. As of now, many questions remain: the identities of the victims, the reasons behind the violence, and how a night that began like any other ended in such senseless grief.
