Man Arrested After Fatal Milton Park Shooting; 31-Year‑Old Victim Found Dead Near Lucille Johnson Park

MILTON, Fla. — A quiet Monday afternoon near Lucille Johnson Park turned tragic when 31‑year-old Tervon Jackson was found shot dead on Mary Street. Police responded around 4:30 p.m. after multiple reports of gunfire, finding Jackson suffering from several gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses described three males fleeing on foot immediately after the shots rang out — two of them reportedly wearing masks that partially covered their faces. Surveillance footage and photos from nearby homes and businesses were quickly gathered, helping investigators identify and track the suspects.

A K‑9 unit was brought in, and the search led officers to a swampy, wooded area near Pine Street. There, they discovered three men hiding in the water — matching the descriptions given by witnesses. According to police, investigators recovered clothing consistent with those seen after the shooting, plus two semi‑automatic handguns.

All three men were detained and brought in for questioning. Eventually, police arrested 21‑year-old Jayden Jamarco Wright and charged him with murder — specifically under “dangerous depraved homicide.” He’s currently held without bond at the Santa Rosa County Jail.

Authorities also confirmed that Jackson’s autopsy has been completed, and the firearms have been submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for forensic examination. The investigation remains active as police gather more evidence and interview additional witnesses.

Local agencies, including the Milton Police Department and crime‑scene technicians, were praised for their quick and coordinated response. Police say they’ll hold a press conference soon and are urging anyone with more information to come forward.

This chilling incident has cast a shadow over the Milton community — turning what should have been an ordinary Monday into a heartbreaking crime scene, and leaving questions in the air as the investigation presses on.
