Windsor police have arrested and charged a 46-year-old man, identified by authorities as Adil Albert, in connection with an extortion plot that’s linked to a shots-fired incident earlier this month.
On November 2, 2025, officers responded to reports of gunfire at a residence in the 2500 block of Academy Drive. When they arrived, they confirmed that several rounds had been fired, though thankfully no one was hurt. Later, surveillance video revealed a masked suspect stepping out of a black SUV, firing multiple shots at the house, then speeding off.
As detectives dug deeper, they spoke to the homeowner, who revealed a troubling backstory: he’d borrowed $50,000 from Albert to help with his down payment. But after the borrower missed repayment, the lender allegedly threatened him—saying he would “send people to his house” if he didn’t pay up.
Those threats didn’t stay in the shadows. The Major Crimes Unit formally identified Albert as a suspect in the extortion. Then, on November 13, the Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) Unit located him outside a home in the 1900 block of Everts Avenue and arrested him without incident.
Albert now faces serious charges: extortion, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence (specifically, reckless discharge of a firearm at or into a residence), and obstruction of justice.
Despite the arrest, the shooting from November 2 is still under active investigation. No one has been charged yet for the gunfire. Detectives say they’re continuing to pursue leads—including any witness statements or video footage—to help identify whoever fired those shots.
