Young Man from North Carolina Dies in Late-Night Crash on Clements Ferry Road

A tragic single-vehicle collision claimed the life of 27-year-old Enmanuel Cortes Moreno. The driver, a North Carolina resident, was the only person in his vehicle when the crash occurred late Sunday night. According to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office, he was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.

The incident unfolded at approximately 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, at the intersection of Clements Ferry Road and Marina Drive on the island of Daniel Island in Berkeley County. First responders arrived promptly after the crash was reported, only to find the vehicle’s sole occupant suffering fatal injuries.

Moreno was identified as both the driver and the only occupant of the vehicle. The Coroner’s Office confirmed there were no other passengers involved and that the impact was severe enough to cause death at the scene. Authorities from the Charleston Police Department and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash, including what led the vehicle to leave the roadway.

In the aftermath of the accident, southbound lanes of Clements Ferry Road were temporarily closed for several hours while investigators collected evidence and cleared the scene. Traffic delays were reported, and drivers in the area were urged to proceed with caution.

At just 27 years old, Moreno’s life ended far too soon, leaving family members and friends to grapple with the sudden loss. The story highlights the fragility of life and the ripple effects an unexpected tragedy can send through a community. While specific details on the vehicle’s condition, speed, or contributing factors such as weather or impairment have not been released, the investigation remains active.

As law-enforcement works to piece together what happened, the incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of safe driving—especially at night when conditions can change rapidly. For now, the focus remains on supporting loved ones left behind and seeking answers for the crash that claimed a young life.

Our hearts go out to Moreno’s family and friends during this difficult time.
