79-Year-Old Man, Andres Estrada, Dies After Being Struck by Car in Waco

WACO, Texas — Late Wednesday night, 79-year-old Andres Estrada lost his life after being struck by a car while walking in south Waco, according to the Waco Police Department.

Police responded to a “man down” call around 10:10 p.m., arriving at the 2400 block of S. 21st Street. There, they found Estrada after he had been hit by a northbound vehicle — later identified as a Chevy Impala.

First responders rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

The driver of the Impala remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators; no arrest has been made. At this time, authorities have not publicly released the driver’s identity.

Family members have been notified, according to police. The tragic crash happened behind a local business area, near what witnesses describe as the Treasure City flea-market zone.

The news has stirred quiet sorrow across the community — neighbors describe Estrada as an elderly man who walked through that part of town. Though little is known publicly about his life, the shock of such a sudden loss resonates deeply.

Authorities say the investigation remains active. They urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or can offer information — dash-cam video, details of the vehicle, or other observations — to contact the Waco Police Department.

In a time when holiday lights are going up and streets grow busier at night, this heartbreaking loss serves as a stark reminder: stay vigilant, slow down, pay attention on the road, and watch out for those walking among us.
