Warren, Mich. — The man found dead inside a West Warren Street home on Friday morning has been identified as 36-year-old private chef Mucari Finley, a well-liked culinary artist from Flint whose family says he was not violent and never a threat to anyone.
Police were called around 5 a.m. on December 12 after a friend of the suspect reportedly received a FaceTime call in which the suspect claimed to have killed someone and the caller saw what appeared to be a person lying in a pool of blood inside the house. Responding officers quickly saw a deceased adult male as they approached the residence, leading to hours of tense negotiation when the suspect refused to cooperate.

The woman inside the home livestreamed much of the standoff on Facebook as Warren Police and a Special Response Team surrounded the property. During the broadcast, she allegedly made statements suggesting involvement in the homicide and expressed suicidal thoughts and threats toward law enforcement, according to police and neighbor accounts. At one point, negotiators heard her voice on the phone and encouraged her to surrender peacefully.
Neighbors described waking to flashing lights and hearing the early-morning commotion, with some learning of the situation only because it appeared live in their social feeds. After roughly four hours, negotiators drew her out of the home without further violence. She was taken into custody and then transported to a local hospital for evaluation, where she remains under care and in police custody.
Early reports indicate that law enforcement has not yet released official details tying the suspect to a motive, and there have been no updates on formal charges at this time. Investigators are reviewing evidence from the scene, including statements made by the suspect online and through negotiators, and are asking anyone with information to contact the Warren Police Department.
Family members of Mucari Finley have taken to social media to remember him as a loving brother and talented chef who always poured his heart into his work and had no history of violence. They emphasize that rumors circulating about the incident online do not reflect who he was as a person. Tributes from friends and community members describe him as one of the kindest people you’d ever meet, known for his creativity in the kitchen and his warm spirit.
As the investigation unfolds, there remains wide community interest and concern, both for the tragic loss of life and for clarity around the circumstances that led to the dramatic morning standoff. Police continue to withhold many investigative details pending further processing and potential charges.
