Heartbreak in Beloit: Arianna Fobes, 25, Dies After Shooting on Colony Court

BELOIT, Wis. — The quiet of a winter evening on Colony Court turned into grief and confusion this week when 25-year-old Arianna Fobes was fatally shot in what police are calling an isolated incident that has left friends, family and neighbors searching for answers. Officials confirmed Fobes’ identity Friday after her family was notified, and the community has since been grappling with the sudden loss of a young life.

Just after 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Beloit police responded to reports of gunfire in the 1900 block of Colony Court. When officers arrived, they found Fobes suffering from severe injuries. First responders quickly summoned medical aid and transported her to a local hospital, where she fought for her life before passing away on December 10.

The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that Fobes died from injuries sustained in the shooting, though the official cause and manner of death remain pending further testing. Investigators are conducting additional forensic analyses as part of the ongoing probe.

Police have been tight-lipped about the circumstances that led to the shooting, saying only that the investigation is active and there is no known ongoing threat to the public. Authorities have not announced any suspects or motives, and details about what preceded the violence are still under review.

In the days following the tragedy, community members have rallied with an outpouring of support for Fobes’ loved ones. Friends describe her as vibrant and full of life, a presence whose absence will be deeply felt. Neighbors who live near the scene say the incident has stirred a mix of sorrow and frustration about gun violence in the city, even as police work diligently to piece together what happened.

Detectives are urging anyone who was in the area around the time of the shooting to come forward with information—no detail is too small, they’ve stressed—as officers review witness accounts, physical evidence and any available video footage. Residents with tips are asked to contact the Beloit Police Department or Greater Beloit Area Crimestoppers.

As the investigation continues, local leaders are calling for community cooperation and emphasizing the importance of looking out for one another. While there are no arrests yet, officials say they are following multiple leads and remain committed to uncovering the truth behind Fobes’ death. For now, the focus remains on honoring her memory and supporting those who knew her during an incredibly painful time.
