Beloved Young Mechanic Andrew Liesman’s Death in Elkhart, Illinois Leaves Community Heartbroken

ELKHART, Illinois — The small town of Elkhart is wrapped in grief after the sudden death of 20‑year‑old Andrew Liesman, a passionate mechanic, loving partner, and hopeful father, who passed away on January 2, 2026. His loss has sent waves through families and friends who knew him as a vibrant young man with a big laugh and even bigger dreams.

Andrew’s story resonated with everyone who met him. Born and raised in Elkhart, he was known for his deep curiosity and love of hands‑on work. He found beauty in diesel engines and could often be found with grease on his hands and music in the background, tackling whatever project came his way. Trucks that growled and engines that roared were his happy place.

He was fiercely devoted to the people close to him. Andrew’s partner, Alyssa Beutow, stood by his side through life’s twists, and together they were expecting a daughter, Oaklynn Marie. That future filled with hope made his passing all the more heartbreaking for those who loved him.

Family meant everything to Andrew. He shared a special bond with his mother, Becky Beggs, his stepfather, Brad Beggs, grandparents, and a wide circle of relatives and friends. They remember him not just for his skills, but for his loyalty, courage, and the way he could make any room feel alive with his presence.

Beyond his mechanical passions, Andrew cherished the outdoors. He spoke often of time spent hunting and his favorite moments at Papa’s Farm in Pike County, where he felt most at peace among wide skies and quiet fields.

As the community continues to process the loss, a celebration of Andrew’s life was planned for January 10, 2026, at the Elkhart Christian Church’s FCC Building. Loved ones gathered to reflect on his bright spirit and the many small, joyful moments that defined his too‑short life.

In lieu of flowers, family members have asked that donations be made to support his daughter, through a fund titled “In Loving Memory of Andrew Liesman: Support for Oaklynn Marie.” This effort aims to ensure that the daughter he never met still feels the strength of his love and the support of the community he helped shape.

Andrew’s passing is a reminder of how deeply one life, though brief, can touch many. In Elkhart’s quiet streets and open fields, friends and family carry his memory — in every engine revved, every sunset watched, and in the stories that will live long after his voice has gone.
