Columbia, Missouri — Kevin James Schultz, a well‑known fixture in the local automotive world and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the age of 60. His loss has left friends, colleagues, and loved ones around Columbia and beyond deeply saddened.
Kevin was born on February 26, 1965, in Merrill, Wisconsin, where he grew up with a strong work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life. He later made Columbia his home, becoming a respected leader in the region’s automotive community.

For more than two decades, Kevin served as the Fixed Operations Director for both Nissan and Mazda at McLarty Automotive Group. In that role, he was known for his sharp technical knowledge, calm leadership, and genuine care for the people he worked with. Many younger technicians and staff have spoken about how he pushed them to grow and always took time to share his experience.
Outside the shop, Kevin’s happiest moments came in simple pleasures. He loved firing up the grill, working on home projects, cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers, and hosting family gatherings where laughter and stories filled the room. Those who knew him best say his strength and resilience were matched only by his generous heart and easy laugh.
Kevin was a devoted husband to his wife, Veronica Schultz, and a proud father to children Foster (Brenna) Schultz, Brent Reeves II, and Lauren (Michael) Reeves. He treasured his time with grandchildren Liam, Tatum, and Clark — family moments that brought him immense joy. He also shared a close bond with his siblings Tabetha (Scott) Check and Craig (Sara) Schultz.
Though Kevin built a life full of achievements, his family rightly sees his greatest legacy in the love he gave. The pain of his passing is softened by the belief that he is now reunited in eternal peace with his son, Avery.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Crossing Church, located on Southland Drive in Columbia. In place of flowers, the family has asked that friends consider donating to Meals on Wheels of Columbia, Missouri, an organization that brings meals and comfort to seniors and those with disabilities — a cause Kevin supported.
