In the busy mid-afternoon lull of Thursday, Nov. 13 2025, 20-year-old Bria Danielle McNeal-Williams of Center Point was fatally shot at a home in the 2000 block of 10th Street in Birmingham’s South Pratt (neighborhood of Pratt City). Police say the unfolding scene began when a man inside the residence called 911 to report someone breaking in.
Officers from the Birmingham Police Department arrived shortly after 12:15 p.m. and found McNeal-Williams in the back doorway of the house with a gunshot wound. Despite efforts from first-responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial investigation suggests the incident occurred during a suspected residential burglary. The male resident reported that an unknown individual had entered his home moments before the shots rang out. Officers found evidence of multiple rounds fired, and the man remained on site until law enforcement arrived.
At this time, it is unclear whether McNeal-Williams and the shooter knew one another. Investigators have emphasized that determining any prior connection is a key piece of the still-unfolding investigation.
The man who made the 911 call and locked down his home has been taken into custody and is being questioned by investigators. No formal charges have been announced yet, as authorities continue to compile evidence and assess witness statements.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim’s identity on Friday and affirmed that the shooting arose amid a reported break-in.
Investigators from the Birmingham Police Homicide Unit are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips may be submitted call-in or anonymously through Crime Stoppers, as the community and law enforcement alike seek clarity and closure in this tragic event.
