Young biker killed in evening crash near Schillinger Road in Mobile

In what began as a regular Monday evening in the city of Mobile, Alabama, a community was stunned when 24-year-old Joseph Stanton II lost his life after his motorcycle was struck at the intersection of Schillinger Road and Glider Avenue around 7:05 p.m. on November 24, 2025. What should have been a routine ride ended in tragedy—and now investigations are underway to uncover exactly what went wrong.

Police officers from the Mobile Police Department arrived at the scene to find Stanton suffering from catastrophic injuries. First-responders gave urgent medical care on site and transported him to a nearby hospital, but despite those efforts, he could not be saved. The shock felt throughout the community was immediate, as friends and family struggled to grapple with his sudden passing.

According to preliminary information provided by investigators, Stanton was riding his motorcycle along Schillinger Road when another vehicle, travelling southbound, attempted a right turn into a parking lot at Glider Avenue. That turn brought the vehicle directly into Stanton’s path, and the ensuing collision threw him from his bike and resulted in fatal injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, whose name has not been released, was reportedly uninjured. No citations or charges have been announced at this point.

The Mobile Police Department confirmed the investigation remains active. Detectives are collecting witness statements, reviewing physical evidence from the roadway, and closely examining conditions at the time of the crash—such as lighting, traffic flow, and vehicle positions. Officials emphasised that speculation should be avoided while the inquiry continues, and they are urging anyone who might have information to come forward.

This tragic incident has reopened a broader conversation among residents who frequently travel the Schillinger corridor. Known for heavy traffic and frequent lane changes, the stretch is particularly hazardous for motorcyclists—especially in the evening, when visibility starts to drop and split-second decisions make all the difference. Local safety advocates stress that both riders and drivers must stay alert: motorcycles are less visible and more vulnerable to sudden moves by other vehicles.

As word spread of Stanton’s death, expressions of grief and support poured in from across the city. A promising young life cut short has left loved ones and neighbours in sorrow, and the police extended their condolences to the family during this unimaginably hard time. Investigators noted that even seemingly small details—such as brake marks, positioning of vehicles, and lighting at the turn—could be crucial in piecing together what happened.

For now, the community waits for answers as the investigation unfolds, honouring the memory of Joseph Stanton II and hoping that the circumstances of the collision will provide insight that could help prevent future tragedies.
