Shreveport, La. — Friends and neighbors are wrapping their arms around a grieving family after the sudden, heartbreaking death of 14-year-old Cali Agent, who was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday evening while crossing Hearne Avenue near Regent Street, just south of Interstate 20. Emergency responders rushed to the scene around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 15, but despite their best efforts, Cali succumbed to her injuries at about 6:04 p.m. that night.
Cali, known affectionately as “Kitty” to her loved ones, had only just celebrated her 14th birthday roughly two weeks before the tragedy. Her mother, Autumn Cherie Agent, described her as a bright honors student at Magnolia School of Excellence where she was in eighth grade, a devoted animal lover especially fond of cats, and a huge fan of KPop Demon Hunters. Those who knew her spoke of her warm smile and gentle spirit that lit up any room she entered.

The tragic collision occurred as Cali attempted to cross the busy northbound lanes of Hearne Avenue. Preliminary accounts from police, gathered from a witness, indicate she was trying to hurry across the road when she was struck by a 2007 Toyota Corolla. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with law enforcement, including submitting to a drug screening; authorities currently do not believe impairment was a factor.
Responding units included at least six medical teams from the Shreveport Fire Department and around eight police units. Cali was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where medical staff worked to save her life. But within an hour of the collision, she passed away, leaving her family and community in deep sorrow. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office has been notified as part of the ongoing investigation.
In the hours since her death, classmates, teachers, and neighbors have shared stories that paint a portrait of a young girl full of promise. Many recall her kindness and genuine enthusiasm for life, whether she was talking about her pets, schoolwork, or the music she loved. A memorial of flowers, notes, and candles has begun to grow near the spot where she was struck, a quiet tribute to a life far too short.
Cali’s family has asked for privacy as they begin to process their loss, but friends and community leaders have called for safe crossing measures and increased attention to pedestrian safety along Hearne Avenue and other busy stretches of the city. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash continues, and no charges or citations have yet been filed.
For now, the focus remains on remembering Cali — her laughter, her gentle heart, and the spark she brought to everyone who knew her. In a community shaken by loss, her story has reminded many how fragile life can be and how deeply one young life can touch so many.
