Jamir had stepped in to help break up a fight between teenagers near the elevated platform just after 1 p.m., according to police and witness accounts. What started as a school-day disagreement escalated when 56-year-old Geraldine Johnson arrived on the scene and allegedly became involved in the melee. At some point during the confrontation, Johnson is accused of pulling out a knife and stabbing Jamir in the chest.
Emergency responders rushed Jamir to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, but the young teen did not survive his wounds. Another teenager was also stabbed in the incident but was treated and released that same day.
