A quiet Thursday morning in Dallas County took a heartbreaking turn when a local woman lost her life in a sudden car accident. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirmed the news later that day, leaving the small community of Orrville in mourning. It was the kind of morning where everything seemed normal until it wasn’t.
The victim was identified as 65-year-old Brenda D. Leshore. She was a familiar face in the Orrville area, and her passing has sent ripples of sadness through the neighborhood. Brenda was driving alone when the accident occurred, making the isolation of the crash site even more heavy for those who knew her.

The wreck happened just as the sun was coming up, around 6:30 a.m. Brenda was traveling along Alabama Highway 5, a road many locals use every day. She was near mile marker 45, just about eight miles north of Safford, when something went terribly wrong and her vehicle drifted off the pavement.
Investigators say the car didn’t just slide off the road; it struck several trees with a lot of force. The impact caused the vehicle to flip over completely. It’s a stretch of highway where the trees grow close to the shoulder, leaving very little room for error if a driver loses control.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a devastating sight. The car was severely damaged from the rollover and the trees. Because Brenda wasn’t wearing a seat belt, the force of the crash threw her from the vehicle. Emergency crews did everything they could, but her injuries were too severe.
Brenda was pronounced dead right there at the scene. It is a somber outcome for a woman who was just starting her day. Troopers noted that no other cars were involved, and no one else was hurt, which makes the mystery of why she left the road even more difficult for the family to process.
Right now, state troopers with the Highway Patrol Division are still working to figure out what happened. They are looking into everything from the road conditions that morning to whether something mechanical went wrong with the car. For now, the community is left holding onto memories of Brenda as they wait for more answers.
