A quiet evening in the Stanley community of Gaston County, North Carolina turned into a nightmare on Sunday when a devastating house fire claimed the life of Dennis Hamlin, father of NASCAR Cup Series star Denny Hamlin, and left his mother, Mary Lou Hamlin, fighting for her life.
Just after 6:19 p.m. on Sunday, fire crews were called to a two-story home on Blacksnake Road that was already heavily engulfed in flames by the time they arrived.
