Tragic Fatal Shooting in Statesville Claims Life of 33-Year-Old Man; Murder Suspect Identified and Sought by Authorities
STATESVILLE, NC – June 14, 2025 — A wave of sorrow and alarm has swept through the community of Statesville following a deadly shooting that occurred just before 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The Statesville Police Department has confirmed that 33-year-old Timmy Jaurice Moore, a resident of Statesville, was shot multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
According to authorities, officers were dispatched at approximately 12:45 p.m. to the area of Deaton Street near Abernathy Ball Field after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting the sound of gunfire. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Moore lying in the front yard of a nearby residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen and legs. Officers immediately began life-saving measures while awaiting emergency medical assistance from Iredell County EMS and Iredell Rescue Squad.
Despite the urgent response and efforts by medical personnel, Moore was pronounced dead at Iredell Memorial Hospital shortly after his arrival.
In the hours that followed, the Statesville Police Department’s Violent Crimes and Criminal Investigations Units launched an intensive investigation. After interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence collected at the scene, detectives identified Austin Ty’Kim “Kimby” Morrison as the suspect responsible for the fatal shooting. A murder warrant has been issued for Morrison’s arrest, and law enforcement agencies are currently working to locate and apprehend him.
Authorities have released a photo of Morrison and are urging the public to assist in locating him. Citizens are warned not to approach him if seen, as he may be considered armed and dangerous.
At this time, investigators have found no credible evidence linking this case to another recent homicide that occurred earlier on East Allison Street. However, both cases remain active and are being handled with the highest priority.
“We are deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence,” said a spokesperson for the Statesville Police Department. “We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Timmy Moore, and we are committed to bringing the person responsible to justice.”
Moore’s family and loved ones are now mourning the devastating loss of a man they describe as kind-hearted and full of life. Friends took to social media on Saturday evening to share memories and express their grief, painting a portrait of a man who was well-known and loved in his community.
As the investigation continues, police are asking for the public’s assistance.
