In a tense evening that spanned residential streets and busy highways in Greenville County, authorities are searching for 37-year-old Shiquon Jamelia Barksdale, who is wanted on an attempted murder charge after firing shots in Taylors and then crashing a vehicle in Greer before fleeing on foot.
Just after 7 p.m. Friday, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call from a home on 73 Pine Drive in Taylors reporting that a woman had fired a weapon toward several vehicles nearby. Officials say no one was struck by the gunfire, but the situation quickly escalated.

When deputies arrived, Barksdale was already gone. A short time later, sheriff’s deputies spotted her vehicle and a pursuit began. On Wade Hampton Boulevard near Greer, the chase ended in a multi-vehicle crash after Barksdale’s car collided with two other vehicles. At least one person sustained injuries in that crash and was treated by emergency personnel.
Rather than surrender, the suspect reportedly escaped the wreckage and ran on foot into the nearby neighborhood, prompting a large and ongoing search by law enforcement. Agencies involved in the effort include the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, the Greer Police Department and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Officials have cautioned the public that Barksdale may be armed and dangerous and have urged residents in the area to stay indoors and dial 911 immediately if she is spotted.
Witnesses in the Greer area described how the incident unfolded from a routine evening to a chaotic scene of flashing lights, blocked streets and trained K-9 teams methodically searching yards and side streets. Traffic along Wade Hampton Boulevard was snarled as authorities worked to manage the crash site and keep the public safe.
As of the latest reports late Friday night, Barksdale remained at large, and a manhunt continues into the early hours. Neighbors are on alert, and community members are being asked to keep their doors locked and report any suspicious activity.
This case is still developing, and law enforcement officials are expected to release updates as the search proceeds. Anyone with information about Barksdale’s whereabouts is encouraged to call local authorities right away.
