91-Year-Old Shreveport Woman Brutally Beaten and Left for Dead; Suspect Arrested and Charged with Attempted Murder

Shreveport, LA – July 2, 2025 — A horrifying and senseless act of violence has shaken the Shreveport community to its core. A 91-year-old woman was discovered beaten, bound, and locked inside a closet in her own home — left to suffer alone in what authorities have called one of the most disturbing crimes in recent memory.

The elderly victim, found barely alive, had been viciously assaulted and intentionally left without any means of escape. Her injuries were severe, and medical staff later said they were stunned she had even survived the ordeal. Her current condition remains critical, and she is clinging to life in the hospital.

Shreveport Police detectives launched an immediate and intensive investigation into the crime. Working around the clock, they were able to identify and apprehend the suspect: 24-year-old Kendrell Thomas. His arrest took place at Stone Vista Apartments, with support from the department’s Narcotics Unit and federal law enforcement partners.

Thomas is now facing a series of serious felony charges, including:

  • Attempted First-Degree Murder
  • Aggravated Kidnapping
  • Second-Degree Battery
  • Home Invasion

“This is a level of cruelty that defies understanding,” a spokesperson for the Shreveport Police Department said. “There is no justification — no excuse — for what was done to this woman. She was attacked in her own home, a place where she should have been safest.”

Community leaders and law enforcement alike have expressed outrage, sadness, and determination. They vow justice will be served and reaffirm their commitment to protecting the most vulnerable among them — especially the elderly.

“We will never tolerate this kind of violence in our city. We will fight relentlessly to hold perpetrators accountable and protect every resident — no matter their age,” said one official involved in the investigation.

The case remains active, and the Shreveport Police Department encourages anyone with further information to come forward. In the meantime, the community continues to rally in support of the victim and her family, praying for her recovery and standing in solidarity against such unspeakable acts.
