Gloucester, Massachusetts, With broken hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Christopher Joseph Dailey, who died tragically from injuries sustained in a car accident on June 30, 2025, at just 18 years old. A bright light to all who knew him, Chris leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love that will never be forgotten.
Born in Beverly, Massachusetts, and raised in Gloucester, Chris attended Rockport schools through 8th grade and graduated proudly from Gloucester High School, Class of 2025. He was a standout student and athlete—a member of the National Honor Society, a four-year varsity hockey player, and co-captain of the Gloucester Fishermen hockey team, where he was honored as Defenseman of the Year in his senior season. Chris was excitedly preparing to begin college at Coastal Carolina University, where he planned to study business and continue shaping a bright future.
Chris’s love for hockey was unmatched—he learned to skate at just two years old, and the rink became his second home. But beyond the ice, Chris was a young man with an infectious personality, a contagious smile, and a magnetic presence. He was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome, whether on the field, in the classroom, or at a gathering with friends. He was, in every way, the “life of the party”—full of laughter, energy, and a passion for life.
Adventurous and spirited, Chris found joy in every season—skiing, fishing, dirt biking, and countless beach days filled with memories. But his greatest strength was his heart. Chris always had time to support a friend, encourage a teammate, or simply offer a warm smile. He lived with intention and gave his love freely, leaving behind countless lives forever changed by his presence.
Chris was a beloved son to Rich and Nicole (Hochmuth) Dailey, and a devoted brother to Rachel Dailey of Gloucester. The bond he shared with Rachel was lifelong and unbreakable—a relationship filled with loyalty, laughter, and sibling love that grew even stronger with time.
He was the cherished grandson of Paul and Julia Hochmuth of Schenectady, NY, and Janet Dailey of Rockport; and the nephew of Jim and Beth Dailey, Kathy Hogan of Rockport; Stephanie and Mike Bracht of Moultrie, GA; Shannon and Pat Stusinski of Ballston Spa, NY; and Paul and Kate Hochmuth of Jacksonville, FL. Chris was deeply loved by his many cousins—Emily, Matt, Jon, Sarah, Derek, Jared, Tyler, Jessica, Alex, and Charlotte. He was predeceased by his grandfather Russell Dailey of Rockport and Debbie Hochmuth of Schenectady, NY.
Chris’s legacy lives on through the memories he made and the love he gave. He showed us what it means to live fully, love fiercely, and give generously.
A Funeral Mass will be held in Saint Ann’s Church, 74 Pleasant St., Gloucester, MA, on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Beech Grove Cemetery, Rockport.
109 Main Street, Gloucester, MA 01930
Chris, your light will never dim. Your spirit will live on in every heart you touched. Rest peacefully—you are forever loved.
