The city of San Diego, California and the greater athletic community are mourning the heartbreaking and heroic loss of Jeff Brady, who tragically passed away on June 5, 2025, while saving two children from drowning in the Lower Colorado River in Arizona. He was selfless to his final breath, and his legacy will forever be remembered.
Jeff was a longtime partner, teammate, and friend of the Professional Fighters League (PFL). A man of remarkable strength and heart, he wasn’t just admired for his commitment to the sport, but for the way he lived his life—with courage, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility for others.
On that tragic day, Jeff didn’t hesitate. Witnessing his girlfriend’s young nephews in distress, he leapt into action, sacrificing his own life to ensure theirs were saved. It was an act that shocked many—but surprised no one who truly knew him. Jeff died a hero, embodying everything he stood for: bravery, loyalty, and love.
In the words of a grieving teammate:
“I’m in total shock. The tears just keep flowing. I’m devastated for Greg, for their whole family, for everyone who knew and loved Jeff. He died saving lives. That’s who he was—selfless, strong, and brave to the very end.”
The Professional Fighters League honored his memory with heartfelt tributes, calling him not only a valued athlete but a brother in arms. The impact Jeff had on the sport, and more importantly, on the lives around him, is immeasurable.
As San Diego and the PFL family grieve this tremendous loss, they ask the public to keep Jeff’s family and loved ones in their prayers, especially those who witnessed his final act of heroism.
To know Jeff Brady was to know a man who put others before himself, who fought for more than titles, and who, in his final moments, showed us all what true heroism looks like.
Rest in peace, Jeff.
You lived like a warrior—and died a hero.
Your courage will never be forgotten.
