COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A quiet Friday evening turned tragic in Cobb County after a deadly shooting near a local apartment complex claimed the life of a 33-year-old man and sent shockwaves through the surrounding community.
Cobb County Police responded to reports of gunfire around 8:45 p.m. near the complex. Upon arrival, officers discovered Cody Chavous suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Chavous was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released information about a suspect or motive, and no arrests have been made as of Saturday morning. Detectives remain on the scene gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses in an effort to piece together what led to the fatal shooting.
