TALLADEGA, Ala.— A shocking and tragic discovery has rocked the Talladega community after four people were found shot to death inside a home on Old Shocco Road over the weekend. Local authorities have launched a full investigation into what is being described as a violent, targeted act.
The Talladega Police Department was dispatched to the residence around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, after a concerned family member reported not having heard from her granddaughter since Thursday. Officers responded to conduct a welfare check at an apartment in the 1500 block of Old Shocco Road, reportedly leased by the granddaughter’s boyfriend.
Upon entering the home, officers found the bodies of four adults—three men and one woman—all of whom had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
The Talladega County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as:
- Nicholas Keith, 44
- Jeffreon Keith, 40 — a cousin of Nicholas
- Jamari Evans, 27
- Querida Flores, 30
Coroner Shaddix Murphy confirmed that all four victims had died from gunshot wounds. It remains unclear how long the bodies had been there prior to discovery. Authorities have not released information regarding possible suspects, a motive, or whether any weapons were recovered at the scene.
Efforts to reach the Talladega Police Department for further comment have not yet been successful. The case has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents expressing sorrow and fear as they await answers.
“This is not something we expect to see in our town,” said one neighbor. “It’s heartbreaking. We’re praying for the families of those lost.”
