With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Timmons Gauthier, 43, of Florence, South Carolina, beloved husband of Victoria Purvis Gauthier. David passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 6, 2025.
Born in Florence County on May 23, 1982, David was the son of Mary Ann Parrott Crumbley and the late Harry Lee Coward. Known for his tireless work ethic and generous spirit, David worked in maintenance and quickly earned the reputation of being the “go-to” man—if something needed fixing, David was the one you called.
He never met a stranger, always greeting others with a warm smile and a helping hand. He had a natural ability to connect with people, which made him not only dependable, but deeply loved by all who knew him. David’s passions were simple but rich—he loved cooking, fishing, being near the water, and cheering on his favorite drag racing teams. Music was a constant in his life, particularly rock and country, and his beloved Chihuahuas were never far from his side.
Above all, David was devoted to his family and friends. He cherished spending time with his Uncle Bobby and Aunt Mary, where he always felt truly at home.
David is survived by his loving wife, Victoria Purvis Gauthier of Florence; his children, Vidilia Rose Gauthier of Lake City and David Timmons Gauthier, Jr. of Manning; stepchildren, Briona (Braydon) Hernandez and Bryce Hernandez, both of Florence; his mother, Mary Ann Crumbley, and stepfather, Mike Crumbley of Scranton; his brother, Jerry Lee (Tracey) Coward of Coward; and sister, Jennifer (Robert) Eason of Scranton. He also leaves behind his special uncle and aunt, Bobby and Mary Moore of Scranton; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John Lee Coward, and grandmother, Virginia Parrott Ducote.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Faith Holiness Church, 143 W. Camp Branch Road, Scranton.
Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM at the church, with private burial afterward.
David will be remembered for his loyalty, humility, and love for others. His legacy of kindness and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
