Victim Identified in Fatal Shooting at Forest Park Apartment

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The victim of a fatal shooting at an apartment building in the Forest Park neighborhood of Springfield has been identified.

The Hampden District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that the victim was Eric Wilson, 54, a resident of Springfield.

On Friday, July 11, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Springfield police responded to a call reporting a shooting at an apartment building on the 200 block of Orange Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men with gunshot wounds inside the apartment. Both individuals were transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment. Eric Wilson suffered serious injuries and succumbed to them on Sunday, July 13, 2025. The second man sustained minor injuries and survived.

The Springfield Police Homicide Unit, in collaboration with the Hampden District Attorney’s Office Murder Unit, is actively investigating the incident. Authorities are seeking information from the public to assist in the investigation.
