Tragic Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Summer Poole in Aiken County

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — The Aiken County community is mourning the tragic loss of Summer Poole, a 28-year-old motorcyclist from New Ellenton, who died in a two-vehicle collision on Saturday evening, July 26, 2025.

The accident occurred around 6:09 p.m. at the intersection of Whiskey Road and Chukker Creek Road. According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, Poole was riding a 2003 Honda motorcycle southbound on Whiskey Road when a northbound Honda Civic pulled into her path, attempting a left turn. The collision was fatal, and Poole was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:53 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for next week in Newberry to further determine the cause of death.

Summer Poole was a vibrant member of the local motorcycle community, often seen riding alongside her husband, Billy Poole, whom she married in 2021. The couple’s shared passion for motorcycles was a cornerstone of their life together, endearing them to many in Aiken County. Following the news of her passing, an outpouring of grief and condolences has flooded social media, reflecting the profound impact Summer had on those who knew her.

“I can’t believe this. She was the sweetest person ever. RIP Summer Poole. My prayers are with you, Billy Poole,” wrote Latoya Lester in a heartfelt Facebook post.

Deanett Moseley shared her sorrow, stating, “I just can’t believe this… My heart breaks for her husband and family. People, please remember motorcycles—yes, we’re not all bad and we have families too. Look out for us.”

Another community member, Holly Bates, expressed, “Prayers for the family. Actions need to be taken seriously when it comes to motorcyclists being hit and killed, especially with all the people moving to the areas around.”

Summer’s mother, Jamie Brogden, shared her anguish in a public post, alleging, “Especially when they are drinking and driving and high. That was my daughter that was killed. As she was going straight at the light on her bike, the driver of the other car took a left turn and hit her, taking her life. The driver and his wife were both intoxicated in their vehicle. My daughter was only 28 years old.”

The Aiken Department of Public Safety and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office are actively investigating the circumstances of the crash. As of now, no official statements have confirmed intoxication charges or other legal actions against the driver of the Honda Civic, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Summer Poole is remembered as a devoted wife, beloved daughter, and a joyful spirit whose love for riding brought light to those around her. Her untimely death underscores the vulnerability of motorcyclists on the road and serves as a poignant reminder for drivers to exercise greater caution and awareness. The Aiken County community continues to rally around the Poole family, honoring Summer’s memory and advocating for safer roads for all.
