Motorcyclist Identified in Fatal Route 35 Crash in Keyport

Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed in a tragic collision on Route 35 in Keyport, New Jersey, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, as Robert A. Cappa, a 36-year-old resident of Parlin.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:04 p.m. near the Stop & Shop on Route 35 northbound, according to the Keyport Police Department. Cappa was operating a 2011 Suzuki Hayabusa when he lost control of the motorcycle and veered off the roadway. Emergency responders transported him to Bayshore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries. Police confirmed that Cappa was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.


Robert Cappa was a devoted husband and father of two, remembered fondly for his commitment to his family. His obituary highlights a life filled with love and cherished memories, leaving behind a profound legacy in his community. Funeral arrangements have not been publicly disclosed at this time.

This incident marks the second fatal motorcycle crash on Route 35 north in Keyport this month. On July 4, 2025, 26-year-old Yovani A. Morfa of Woodbridge lost his life in a separate accident near Seaboard Marine, where he struck a curb and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Keyport Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Thursday’s crash to determine its cause.
