Victim Stabbed in Neck at Colburn Park, Police Hunt for Armed Suspect

The Lebanon Police Department has identified Dahlton Fairbank, a 29-year-old resident of Bristol, New Hampshire, as the suspect accused of stabbing a man in the neck at Colburn Park on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

According to investigators, the incident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. when Fairbank allegedly stabbed a man during an encounter at Colburn Park in downtown Lebanon. The victim sustained serious injuries and was promptly transported by the Lebanon Fire Department to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or current condition.

Surveillance footage from the scene captured Fairbank, described as wearing a gray hoodie, khaki shorts, and tan shoes, fleeing north through Colburn Park immediately after the assault. Later, police received reports that an individual matching Fairbank’s description was seen walking southbound along Interstate 89 near Exit 18.

Investigators learned that Fairbank had been picked up from the interstate and transported back to his residence in Bristol. Lebanon Police, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, obtained a search warrant for Fairbank’s home. During the search, authorities recovered clothing consistent with what Fairbank was allegedly wearing during the stabbing, as well as his cell phone and several knives. However, Fairbank had reportedly fled the residence on foot before police arrived.

Fairbank is currently wanted on multiple warrants, including charges of assault, being a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, and reckless conduct. Authorities have warned that Fairbank should be considered armed and dangerous, urging the public not to approach him if sighted.

The Lebanon Police Department is actively seeking information from the public to aid in locating Fairbank. Anyone with details regarding his whereabouts or who may have observed suspicious activity in or around Colburn Park on Thursday morning is encouraged to contact the Lebanon Police Department at 603-448-1212. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department’s tip line at 603-448-CLUE (2583) or online at LebanonNH.gov/CLUE.

Colburn Park was temporarily closed during the investigation, disrupting scheduled events such as the Lebanon Farmers Market and Front Porch Concert Series, which were canceled due to the incident and inclement weather. The park has since reopened to the public.

The investigation remains ongoing, with Lebanon Police and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit working together to apprehend Fairbank and further examine the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
