In a tragic turn of events, 17-year-old Hector Cuarenta has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that claimed the lives of three young individuals on Hackberry Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
The victims have been identified as Dequavious LeCharles Brooks, 17, and Edward Alejandro Rivera, 18, both residents of Nacogdoches. The third victim’s identity has not been publicly disclosed.

The Nacogdoches Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 10:22 a.m. on Friday, October 24, following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims shot and seated inside a black vehicle, and a third victim lying in the street. One individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two were transported to a local hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities have charged Cuarenta with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the triple homicide. The police have stated that the shooting appears to be a targeted, isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
As a precautionary measure, Fredonia Elementary School was placed in a secure status during the incident. Officials confirmed that there was no threat to students or staff, and a controlled dismissal was carried out later in the day.
The Nacogdoches Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing justice to the victims and their families.
